These vintage Tony Lama cowgirl boots date to the 1950s, a period when the brand was at the forefront of innovation in Western footwear. Tony Lama, an Italian immigrant who learned the boot trade as a child in New York, founded his company in El Paso, Texas, in 1911 after serving as a cobbler for U.S. Cavalry soldiers at Fort Bliss. Initially focused on repairs and custom orders for local cowboys and ranchers, the business grew steadily. By the 1950s, under Lama’s leadership, the company introduced novel leathers, construction methods, and designs that elevated industry standards, scaling production to over 3,000 pairs per day for global distribution while maintaining handcrafted quality. 25 The black label inside these boots aligns with pre-1970 models, underscoring their authenticity. 16
Sized for ladies 7, these pull-on boots feature a classic Western silhouette with two-tone leather in maroon red shafts and brown vamps, complemented by white longhorn steer head inlays that evoke Texas iconography.
• Materials: Full genuine leather construction, with textured quilting on the shafts for added durability and style.
• Toe and Heel: Pointed toe for a traditional fit, paired with a slanted underslung heel approximately 1.5 inches high.
• Shaft Height: Mid-calf rise of about 12 inches, including leather pull straps for ease of wear.
• Inlays: Prominent white leather longhorn head appliqués on both the front and back, a design element popular in mid-century Texas-themed boots.
• Sole: Leather outsole with visible pegging and natural wear patterns, indicative of vintage use and potential for resoling.
• Condition: Shows authentic patina from age, including scuffs and creases, but remains structurally sound with no major damage.
